The Calumet Outdoors Series is a collection of free guided hikes and kayak/canoe events offered throughout 2011 in northwest Indiana and southeast Chicago. A collaboration between various Calumet organizations, the hikes and paddling events are focused on the natural assets and offerings of the Calumet Region. ECCo scientists will be leading several interpretive hikes throughout the program, including an upcoming bird hike led by Doug Stotz at Beaubien Woods on Saturday, June 18th at 9:00 am. Whether you're a novice or avid paddler, or want to get out your hiking shoes and see another part of the Chicago Wilderness by foot, come connect to the vast and globally rare ecology of the region in a fun way.
