On August 2010 representatives from the Department of Interior, Department of Agriculture, Department of Health and Human Services, and the Council on Environmental Quality were in Chicago as part of America’s Great Outdoors listening sessions around the country. The event was organized by Chicago Wilderness, The Field Museum, Chicago Department of Environment, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and Openlands to present our successful regional programs connected with the outdoors. VIPs gathered in the Museum’s Founders’ Room, and the public session was in our Simpson Theater, with speakers from ECCo. The presentations will lead to a report to Congress that will influence legislation on US parks and open spaces.
