We’re proud to offer a competitive total compensation package with benefits designed to empower our staff to lead healthy, productive, and rewarding lives—at work and beyond.

Take time off

Staff working part- or full-time for a planned duration of at least six months may be eligible for time-off benefits, including:

  • Vacation days (number based upon years of service and position)
  • Seven designated holidays, plus three floating holidays
  • Four personal days
  • Sick time
  • Paid parental leave (eight weeks)
  • Family medical leave and bereavement leave
  • Jury duty leave

Make the most of your time at the Field

In addition to typical employment benefits, staff get a discount at our stores and restaurants and free admission to other area museums. Family members of staff can visit the Field Museum for free.

We also treat our employees to annual staff celebrations, special exhibition previews, and discounts on educational programs and 3D movie tickets.

There’s even an on-site fitness center, staff bike storage, and shower and locker room facilities.

Choose from a range of options to fit your lifestyle

Retirement

The Field Museum offers a 403(b) tax-sheltered annuity plan to employees to help them save for retirement, as well as employer matching and discretionary contributions for eligible employees.

Employer-paid benefits

Eligible staff have the support of an employee assistance program, term life insurance, long-term disability, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance.

Healthcare

Our healthcare benefits include medical (Blue Cross and Blue Shield PPO and prescription coverage), dental (Cigna Dental HMO or PPO), and vision insurance (EyeMed Vision Care). Some plan options offer a Health Savings Account (HSA). Employees may also choose to contribute to a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Dependent Care FSA. Healthcare premiums are deducted pre-tax.
