Scientific Volunteers
Click here to Register Interest! With scholars and scientists studying the diversity and evolution of life on earth, our focus is on dynamic new exhibits, scientific research, and education programs about environments and cultures. For this effort to succeed, your input is vital. Help us to make history even more intriguing at The Field Museum.
The collections and research areas offer fascinating opportunities to work with Museum scientists and collections managers. A scientific background appropriate to the field is helpful, but not required - interest, enthusiasm, and commitment are important.
Please note that scientific and collections projects may entail clerical work, data entry, specimen handling, or some combination. Applications for the research areas are screened by curatorial and collections staff in those areas.
Volunteers in collections and research provide support in the following areas:
- Anthropology
- Botany
- Geology
- Zoology: Birds, Fishes, Insects, Reptiles and Amphibians, Mammals, Invertebrates
- Environment, Culture, and Conservation
These volunteer opportunities are only available on weekdays during regular business hours. Click here for information about volunteer requirements.
