I work as Rapid Inventories Manager in the Andes-Amazon Program. Rapid inventories are expert surveys of the geology and species richness of areas with outstanding biodiversity potential, coupled with social assessments identifying the natural resource use, social organization, and aspirations of local residents. The Field Museum’s Environment, Culture, and Conservation (ECCo) division of science has conducted rapid inventories in the Andes-Amazon region, Cuba, and China since 1999.
