I am a collections manager in the Anthropology Department at The Field Museum where I am responsible for the care of the museum's anthropology collections from North America, Asia, Europe, and the Near East as well as for archaeological collections from Africa.
- B.A. Anthropology and Art History with a minor in Museum Studies, Beloit College, 1996.
- M.S. Anthropology with certification in Museum Studies, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 2002.
Currently, I am working on several collections-based projects. One of these includes overseeing the cataloging of a large collection of artifacts recovered from a 13th century shipwreck in the Java Sea off the coast of Jakarta, Indonesia. Another project includes the Kish Project, for which I am working with conservation staff to improve the care and storage conditions of archaeological collections from the site of Kish in Iraq. In 2009, I worked with other staff to teach and train museum professionals from Iraq. I have also worked in Brazil and the Midwestern United States, where my research interest is the late prehistory of the Upper Mississippi River Valley and Great Lakes regions. I continue to research when and where late prehistoric "collared" ceramics are found in Illinois and Wisconsin.
Before joining The Field Museum in 2006, I was the museum registrar at the Wheaton Historic Preservation Council in Wheaton, Illinois. I have also served as a conservation assistant at the Milwaukee Public Museum and as a museum registrar at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and Eisner Museum of Advertising and Design in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Prior to my graduate studies in Milwaukee, I was a field archaeologist in Illinois and Wisconsin.
