2011 Bike to Work Week

Between June 11th and June 17th, 67 employees at the Museum biked to work--that's over 13% of staff.  The closest organization in our category was the American Medical Association who came in at 9%. Check out all the results HERE.  Our TOTAL COLLECTIVE MILES THIS YEAR: 2500!  Based on 20 mpg, we calculate this is approximately 2,375 pounds of carbon saved! Way to go, Field Museum bike commuters!! 

Our dedicated SHARED BIKES TEAM also set a new record of bikes repaired: 36 this year!  Big thanks to our awesome wrenches and to Trek Bikes for sending us a mechanic!

On Thursday June 16th the Museum hosted a Commuter Station with the Active Transportation Alliance.  Despite the rain quite a few folks passed by the station to enjoy coffee, bagels, muffins and free schwag.  All in all, it was a great week for biking!!
