Egypt Unwrapped

Examine Egyptian sculptures, listen to myths about ancient gods and goddesses, wrap a mummy replica and examine real mummies through CT scans. This programs includes a guided visit to the Inside Ancient Egypt exhibition. Supports ILS 16.A.2c.

Grades: 3rd-5th

Duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes (includes 30 minutes for lunch)

The Great Fossil Hunt

Identify real fossils and create a dig-pit grid system to record the location of found fossils. Practice making scientific illustrations and inferences about the relationships between prehistoric organisms and their environment. Ths programs includes a guided visit to the Evolving Planet exhibition. Supports NGSS 3-LS4-1.

Grades: 3rd-5th

Art of Ancient Pottery

Learn about the cultures of the Americas by investigating pottery patterns and materials. Explore how pottery is and was used in daily life, and then make your own pottery using only tools and techniques available to traditional potters! This programs includes a guided visit to The Ancient Americas exhibition. Supports ILS 16.A.2c.

Grades: 3rd-5th

Soil Adventure

Model the movement of matter through our soil ecosystem and explore the critters that play an important role in decomposition. This program includes a guided visit to the Underground Adventure exhibition. Supports NGSS 5-LS2-1.

Discover the T. rex named SUE like you never have before in this 3D film! Learn the amazing story of how the world’s greatest predator was found in the dusty badlands of South Dakota and view a real fossil excavation with Field Museum paleontologists.
