This permanent exhibition opens to the public November 4, 2011

Overview: Become immersed in adventures with Museum scientists as they study the diversity of life and promote conservation from Chicago to South America to Pacific coral reefs and points in between. Hear scientists describe the work they do and the passion and urgency that drive them. Discover what it's like to drop from a helicopter into the Amazon lowlands in order to do an inventory of the area's wildlife, learn how Chicago's citizen scientists preserve habitats for the region's diverse plants and animals, and explore the unique challenges faced by the island ecosystems of the Philippines and Madagascar. Restoring Earth is a unique and inspiring exhibition that changes the perception of what a museum can be by using videos, large-scale photographs, and fun, hands-on learning tools to focus on active science and those who make it happen.
