Mapping the Tree of Life Using DNA

Investigate how DNA analysis has changed our understanding of the relatedness of life on Earth. Extract DNA in a lab and interview scientists in the DNA Discovery Center exhibition. Supports NGSS MS-LS4-2.

Egypt Unwrapped

Investigate life in Ancient Egypt and the beliefs behind mummification. Listen to myths about ancient gods and goddesses of Egypt, experience wrapping a mummy replica, and examine real mummies through CT scans. This program include a guided visit to the Inside Ancient Egypt exhibition. Supports ILS

The Great Fossil Hunt

Explore the fossil record and identify patterns in the evolution of organisms. Practice making scientific illustrations and inferences about the change of life forms over the history of Earth. This programs includes a guided visit to the Evolving Planet exhibition. Supports NGSS MS-LS4-1.

Art of Ancient Pottery

Learn about the cultures of the Americas by investigating pottery patterns and materials. Explore how pottery is and was used in daily life, and then make your own pottery using only tools and techniques available to traditional potters! Programs at the Museum include a guided visit to The Ancient Americas exhibition. Supports ILS 17.C.3b.

Waking the T. rex 3D: The Story of SUE
(At the Museum, in the EY 3D Theater)

Discover the T. rex named SUE like you never have before in this 3D film! Learn the amazing story of how the world’s greatest predator was found in the dusty badlands of South Dakota and view a real fossil excavation with Field Museum paleontologists. Note, this program can accomodate more than 35 students.
