Field Museum Staff Help Organize First Chicago Southland Green Drinks
With organizational help from The Field Museum Division of Environment Culture and Conservation (ECCo) staff, the Calumet Stewardship Initiative hosted the inaugural Chicago Southland Green Drinks at Flossmoor Station Restaurant and Brewery in Flossmoor, IL on March 3rd, 2011. The event drew over 50 attendees representing business, non-profits, academia, government, and interested citizens. First organized in England, Green Drinks events are now organized in over 750 cities around the world.
Every Green Drinks is different, but they all have their roots in simple, organic, and self organizing collections of people interested in environmental issues. Focused on networking, education, and socializing Green Drinks has helped many people find employment, make friends, develop new ideas, seal deals, and have moments of serendipity. It is a force for good and the Field Museum is happy to help the Calumet Stewardship Initiative bring it to the Chicago Southland.
The next Chicago Southland Green Drinks will be held on May 5th, 2011 at Maple Tree Inn in Blue Island, IL.
