Jade is great treasure in China. According to 2ndcentury Chinese text, the “fairest of stones” represents five virtues – benevolence, loyalty, wisdom, courage, and integrity.

Jade has ancient musical associations and has been used in the making of many musical instruments. An early Chinese dictionary described jade as having a “melodious sound when gently struck.”
