Ocellated Waspfish burying itself and swimming around
Movie of the beautiful and bizarre Ocellated Waspfish (Apistus carinatus) burying itself and swimming around in a tank. This unusual fish has been difficult to align with other fishes because of its mixture of features. Its unusual scales, swim bladder, and enormous pectoral fins seemingly align it with sea robins (Triglidae), but its venomous spines, gill arches, and musculature align it with the stonefishes (Synanceiidae).
