Lance Grande is working on a collaborative research project with colleagues Julia Clarke (University of Texas, Austin), Daniel Ksepka (North Carolina State University) and Derek Briggs (Yale) on the remarkable fossil Bird fauna from the 52 million year old Fossil Butte Member of the Green River Formation. This is one of the world's best preserved and productive fossil bird localities but remains largely undescribed. Its description will give us a unique look into the North American bird fauna as it was developing between the age of the dinosaurs and the present day.
