On January 30, 1868 a fireball, accompanied by detonations, shot across the sky of central Poland. The Pultusk meteorite exploded over Poland creating a strewnfield from Pultusk to Ostrolenka. About 250 kg of material was recovered and is now preserved in collections. Pieces range from 9 kg to 1 g in size. The meteorite is classified as a H5 ordinary chondrite.
