In 1995, the National Science Foundation held its first PEET competition. The PEET program supports “projects that target groups of poorly known organisms for modern monographic research. Projects must train new taxonomists and must translate current expertise into electronic databases and other products with broad accessibility to the scientific community.”
During the past seven years I navigated through the world of millipedes, millipede collections and millipede literature. Along the way I produced and acquired certain tools, such as taxonomic lists, a comprehensive reprint collection, and an electronic genus catalog. The Field Museum’s millipede collection has also been computerized. The fruits of these activities are offered here as downloadable files.
